Brad Keselowski Sails to Victory in New Hampshire

Brad Keselowski held off Denny Hamlin late in the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway to pick up the win Sunday afternoon. The Team Penske driver earned his third victory of the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season after leading 184 of the 301 laps at the Magic Mile.

Both Keselowski and Hamlin competed for the top spot throughout the event, leading a combined 276 laps. The two veterans raced aggressively early, beating and banging fenders while fighting for the lead. Keselowski eventually grabbed a hold of the top spot and did not look back, sailing to his second career win in New Hampshire.

“A great car and a great team effort,” said Keselowski after winning the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301.

When asked what these kinds of races mean for teams competing to reach the championship race in Phoenix, Keselowski responded, “I think races like today are perfect examples of it. PJ1 on the racetrack which has zero laps on it; super treacherous. Then on top of that, no practice and no idea how your car is going to drive. You gotta fire off into that corner, and you have to find a way to make it stick.”

“It’s Still 2020”

Kyle Busch’s awful 2020 Cup Series continued to falter in the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301, losing a tire and crashing out on Lap 15. When asked about his string of poor finishes, last season’s champion simply responded “it’s still 2020.”

The race featured 11 cautions and 22 lead changes. The low downforce/high horsepower package allowed for competitive racing throughout the event, with many drivers fighting for the lead.

Next week the NASCAR Cup Series heads to Michigan International Speedway for a double-header weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Two 200 lap events are set to take place on August 8th and 9th, with the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series racing Friday night at MIS. The NASCAR Xfinity Series heads to Road America this Saturday.
