A Long Awaited Victory for Bowyer

It’s safe to say Clint Bowyer was tired of hearing about his winless streak dating back to 2012. After his victory in the STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway, the Emporia, Kansas native is working on a new streak of contending for wins in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.

Bowyer strong start to the 2018 season continued at the half-mile short track in Virginia, leading 215 laps in route to a win, while finishing in the top five in all three stages. Stewart-Haas now has four victories in the first six races of the season.

Last year, Jimmie Johnson took home the checkered in the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. However, the seven-time champion only has one Top 10 after six races in 2018, with an average finish of 19.2.

While the Ford and Toyota teams have shown consistency and speed early in the season, Chevrolet teams are slowly catching up. Hendrick Motorsports, Chip Ganassi Racing and other Chevy teams seek to silence the critics and earn a victory as the Cup Series heads to the Lone Star State next weekend.
